Brian Timmons Dear friends, When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own. Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have re-sales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information. Brian Timmons |

The floor plan of each of these units has eliminated the optional "den / office" divider. The result is a larger area offering more flexible furniture arrangements while still maintaining the option of including an office area. At 105m2 plus two parking spots each and storage locker, they offer a great opportunity for someone seeking views, security, central location, and first class, all round living... Our Lives
What Happened This WeekWeather: Transitioning into the rainy season... winds have died and clouds gather many afternoons... we have had several showers and grumbling skies several times this past week. One good soaking rain but mostly sunny, still and warm. We will start preparations for this change in seasons after Semana Santa... StoriesCovid-19 -Los Jardines: Two errors in my last week's report: it seems we have had one case (now recovered) at Los Jardines... had recently returned from a conference in the US. and CR, as of last week there were only 3 deaths (not 5 that I reported) but this week there was another of an 87 year old man... making CR's total 4. An article I read said that in CR the death rate was 0.6 per million and in the US it was 62 per million. And we have much better weather... so I am happy to be here. Project -Revising the Shareholder Agreement: I have focused on this all week. I am almost finished with it. It has been a lot of work... some 60 pages with text, appendices and attachments. I knew it would be... this has needed to be done for years but no one took on the job. I developed the agreement 20 years ago and now, I get to update it based on our experience and the amendments / changes we have made along the way. I will be VERY glad when I have finished the final editing and can turn it over to the lawyer for his blessing / review and to the translator for him to start work. Then I move on to my next biggie... accounting... Hammock: Yes, I am getting lots of that in but there are these projects which keep getting in the way. But, my replacement does the property management running around so I can now do both hammock and projects. Re-habilitation of Buildings: We continue with maintenance work. Parts of the rain water collection system at the low end of the property have failed and need to be replaced. This system has worked flawlessly for 18 years. We have another several day's work before we finish all work on 110-113 building complex. The small pool pump has been repaired and is working and the pool light has been replaced. We have experimented with acid etching the "slippery-when-wet" tile... the experiment wasn't successful. I think we are going to have to sand blast or replace the tiles. Observations: Very few cars on the roads, most stores are closed, restaurants and hotels closed, virtually everything other than pharmacies and grocery stores are closed... Construction sites continue to work. A lawyer I use has been supper busy closing down five businesses. One is a five site hotel another an airplane cleaning business... I don't remember the others. There is very little money available to lend and only with very high security. Scotiabank: They are on my case again re. a transaction in February. They asked for info. A -I told them to look in January's transactions for the answer; they asked for copies of the checks (they have them on their system but) -I sent them; they then asked for the contract -I sent it; now they are asking what the relationship of the signator of the checks to repay me to all this... I sent them that info -someone came back saying I had to supply the info that week... I said I did, I sent it to the person who asked me for it... and the bank's response was that that person was not in the office... as which point is said in effect, your problem... I was never told to send it elsewhere, now they want to know what my business is.... I told them (1) -I told them and said they have that info in their files, (2) talk with my lawyer, and (3) said in effect, if I were doing anything illegal, don't you think I would be dealing in larger numbers? and finally, I said that if you don't stop this harassment, I will move everything to BAC where I am set up because I expected this BS at some time. I haven't heard anything and neither has the lawyer... I don't know if this is the end or not... |
