Brian Timmons Dear friends, When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own. Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have re-sales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information. Brian Timmons |

Our Lives
Weather: November is proving to be the normal beginnings of the dry season... rains are infrequent. Temperature continues to be perfect... A Stupid Stunt: On Monday I watch in horror as the following unfolded in front of me: In heavy traffic, a vintage convertible Camero or Mustang darted across a lane into a space which had just opened up. The 18 wheel truck in front of which the two girls darted, couldn't see them and advanced. Yep!!! Crunched into a "V"... no one hurt but the car... forget it. This is the second time I have seen this accident but the first that I actually saw it happen... I knew instantly what was going to happen. The girls are still trying to figure out what they did wrong... duhhhh Moto vs. Car: Guess who didn't win... right in front of AutoMercado on Lindora Blvd. Two lots in what might be called "downtown" Pozos... are being cleared for construction... I have no idea what will be built but it will be chaos during construction and after as more cars are added to an already incredibly busy street. The Tres Rios Foreclosure: After a year, and several BS offers which never culminated in anything, it seems that an offer has finally come through which is acceptable to the lenders... This house was appraised at around $900K and would probably take all of that to build. They are accepting an offer, supposedly to close in 4 months, of $465,000. This is what has been happening with RE in Costa Rica... this is a dramatic example but it is not the exception. The lenders will break even only because they used common sense and did not lend too much on it... they did however, expect the house to re-sell around $650,00, then $600, then $550, then $520, then at $499, and now at $465,000. The best news of the week is that the US election is over. The bad news is that one of the two won... I never expected to see that bullying, lying, insulting, inciting, groping, boasting, belittling, personal attacks about looks, etc would ever become leadership qualities... I think I have lived too long. I have a friend writing his doctoral dissertation on "leadership" I think he has to now include a different chapter. The colon continues is slow devaluation... now around 561 to the dollar... this is a change from the first of the year of around 540. |
