When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Our Lives

Weather: Our normal "rainy" season... working perfectly...

Strikes: ICE workers closed down central San Jose on Monday -they want more money... there isn't a lot of public support for them. The red taxi drivers closed down SJ on Tuesday... they want Uber banned... they have some public support but not much... Uber, based on comments from users, is loved... cheaper, reliable, new, clean cars, good drivers... it is based on disruptive technology... licensed taxis are finding their business model doesn't work well alongside this... and the government bureaucracy built up to support the licensed taxis is endangered... and so are the "pirate" taxis... which are now not the focus of the red, licensed taxis... who are getting hit on all sides... The best thing about the day was that from 12 noon on, there was no one on the streets... clear of virtually all traffic... best day for driving ever!!!!!!

Bye Bye "Pathfinder": the purchaser arrived on time, lawyer arrived on time, deal done, car gone. I have a bit of nostalgia for that car... loved it, nicest car I ever owned and may ever own... including the one I changed for... I hope it continues to perform well for the new owner.

Post note: whatever the engine warning light was saying was deemed to be a malfunctioning sensor... the car ran and continues to run fine... I've had trouble, including a "door ajar" light... simply a bad sensor... so, after two weeks of trying to solve what was thought to be a problem, it was found to be another "mentira" (lie).

"Happiness": CR is often cited as being at the top or near the top in the "happiness" survey. Why? I have no idea... road rage, aggressive driving, B & Es, violent and petty crime, suicide, alcoholism, abuse, poverty, etc. all exist her in high levels... maybe it is the cheap "guaro" or pot that helps in the polls...

There is virtually nothing coming out of the government these days -perhaps that is good. Solis is missing in action -actually there is no action anywhere... colon / dollar exchange rate is around the same level for the past several weeks... unions are up set and the government can't figure out what to do so does nothing...
