Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Construction Log
Updates about Hacienda El Dorado

Rio Oro: A New Beginning: We've reached an agreement and inked a deal with a very strong developer from Venezuela. El Dorado will be reborn with a different vision. That new vision will be created over the next year.

We've started working on finishing up and hopefully putting closure to this project. This effort will be advanced next week.

Residencias Los Jardines
Property Management, Rentals, Re-Sales

No break downs and everything working fine. We brought in an additional person to work specifically on annual repairs and maintenance. On a separate issue, I having to re-establish the role of employees. This is a constant struggle... to solve the boss's problems, not create problems. It's always tough and no one likes it but sometimes reminders are appropriate to ensure alignment.

Our Lives

WEATHER: dry, lots of wind -beautiful temperatures.

All in a Week's Living in CR:

Traffic: even though the traffic was greatly reduced this past week, I did see a dump truck rear end a new SUV and push it into the car in front. The SUV was an accordian, the other car had rear end damage as well, the dump truck was unscathed... someone's new year didn't begin well.

New Year's Eve: as usual, lots of local fireworks...

Priority Post -CR: this is a new service from the CR postal service. I've had three experiences with it and none have been good. It simply doesn't work well -the item doesn't get delivered (receiving or sending) any faster- in fact, I believe actually slower -than regular mail and costs a premium... and expectations are higher... undeserved in my experiences... the latest being a packett sent from Canada... it was delivered to the local post office on Dec. 26 and there is no evidence of a delivery being attempted and no notice of it having arrived and being held... in fact, the tracking system says it was in process... well, I guess this might be correct but a little misleading. A direct approach to the postal office and an insistence on actually looking revealed that it was in fact there, this was 10 days after it had arrived... supposedly... just another not very well thought through system... implemented on the fly... and now I have a notice from FedEx about a parcel... they closed at 3pm on Friday so now I have to go again... and I suspect it has to do with the same item delivered through Priority Post CR... somehow there is a tie-in... but I don't know until I make the 2nd trip to the FedEx office in San Jose... our mail forwarding service from Miami is working great... normally three days delivery from Miami with text and e-mail notification of arrival...
