AVAILABILITY & SETTLING IN

Brian Timmons, Newsletter Author
Brian Timmons

Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Construction Log
Updates about Hacienda El Dorado

Rio Oro: We continue to supply technical information to several groups helping them assess what we have accomplished... we'll see.

NEIGHBORHOOD PARTY: On Sunday last, we facilitated a neighborhood party for kids. We had been asked before Christmas but the organizers couldn't get the act together to stage it so asked for a rain check and that happened last Sunday. About 300 children from the immediate neighborhood along with various parents and family members attended. It was a great place to stage it because the land was clean and cleared of brush, there was running water, buildings and tables, electricity for the inevitable sound system, etc.

Residencias Los Jardines
Property Management, Rentals, Re-Sales

Settling In: The new owners of #102 are nearing the completion of their "personalization" which included painting, cleaning, stocking the pantry, and a few minor repairs. They now have time to focus on a couple more items re. terrace furniture but this can and will be done on a more leisurely basis and in the meantime they're getting ready to settle down to a quiet life.

Market Activity: --

Our Lives

WEATHER: beautiful... windy which is normal and dust from construction next door... both are normal this time of year but the temperature has been perfect (at least for us).

Internet: My Internet has been very unstable lately. It's been frustrating. Last week the frig compressor went for the 3rd. time and this week my router died. It's hard to keep electrics and electronics running here. In the most recent case, it was the charger / transformer to my personal wireless router which died. However, we didn't know it was the charger unit itself until I bought an exact replacement and then we tested the charger... I'll replace the charger and now have a complete router replacement.

Pistol Stealing: one of the latests CR events this week involves the theft (now believed to be by "insiders") of 215 new 9mm Glock pistols destined for the transit police. They were being temporarily housed in a "guarded??" place while their eventual destination a "secure" room was under construction... (having said that, 54 were "recovered" and looking at the picture, there is a wide variety of pistols virtually none of which look like 9mm or Glocks, so?????? and there seems to be a question about bullet proof vests which were also in "temporary" storage and may well be missing.)

MISC.: Price of fuel (gas, diesel, and propane) which are all government regulated dropped significantly on Friday. ICE, the electrical company wanted a 25% increase but got only 6% (?) or so. The inflation rate over this time last year was 0.17%; Unlike in past years where the government negotiated the "minimum" wage increase, this year the unilaterally increased wages by a very small amount -C5,000 mo. or $10); This has angered the unions which are now calling for a general strike on Feb. 15. (Note: in the past when virtually any opposition has developed, be it the rice growers, the motor cyclists, the street vendors, etc., the government has historically caved in to the demands within about 3 days... we'll see. Starbucks in coming to CR and so is Sam's Club... rogress? or a continuing slide into ??? following KFC, McDonald's, BurgerKing, Walmart, etc. ??????????
