Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Rio Oro: This time of year, the property looks its best -green, and the continuing grass / brush cutting enhances that look. Now if Europe and N. American can just get their social, political, financial, and economic acts together...

Change in Board of Directors: this has now been accomplished -Monte Strauss, President; Bruce Stangl, Treasurer; and Secretary, Pam Rutledge. The new board will assume it's responsibilities immediately.

Market Activity: Very quiet; two lookers, no commitments.

Sales: no one looking.

Rentals: 112 is available.

Internet Problems: A power blip shout down our east feed and blew out one of the three sub switchers. The next day the west side failed for for another reason... the UPS system we have to isolate our system for power fluctuations failed most likely because of old age. Note: All of our electronic equipment takes a beating this time of year due to the lighting storms and the effect it has on ICEs not-well-protected power grid.

Our Lives

WEATHER: much less rain than normal -like last year- just enough to keep us from having to irrigate. However, the weather gurus are predicting a very wet Oct. + with the development of La Nina -we'll see.

Cars: RETIEVE -finally got it with the replacement of the catalytic converter. The one I had put on last year was a small, substandard one and it was designed to burn out in a year and probably not do a very good job while installed. This one is, supposedly, the correct after market one. I'm beginning to look for a replacement car.

Fiscal Year End: Sept. 30 is the fiscal year end for most companies in CR. Of course there are additional accounting and administrative things which have to be done. It's never fun but most -but not all- of the burden falls on the accountant. I'll be walking away, gladly, from the administrative items associated with Doneste relieving me of that three months of work.
