Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Construction Log
Updates about Hacienda El Dorado

Rio Oro:  We now have the final document. I'm taking those numbers and doing some further analysis. I've done a Version1 which is being vetted with the architect and his construction arm. I've asked them for some information. The vetted information will be expanded and all will be integrated into a huge spreadsheet and then simplified. I hope those waiting for it can understand it. They may or may not like what it says and as of now, I don't know what the message will be, but..........

Internet: It's been stable all week until Friday when it went down. Whether a coincidence or not, it was Good Friday when it last went down. I got it back up after a 1/2 hr outage but it was down again twice on Saturday morning. Since the company AMNET is either technologically incompetent or just doesn't care about being honest to customers, it difficult to deal with them and if the problem is theirs, not ours, which is what the case has been $600 later, we can do nothing except wait it out.

Market Activity: We've had only one inquiry and that ended up being a no-show. We've had several people who wanted one unit on a long term basis but the owner wants it in December so that doesn't work.

It occurs to me that the US crackdown on Internet gambling and the RE market is being affected. While little information is publicly available on the effects, the moccasin telegraph says that lots and lots of people are being laid off, transferred and business and support business are being closed down or severely downsized. All this plus the known increase in the cost of living here, the continued difficulty in getting things accomplished, whether it be the Internet fixed, a phone line, etc, it is always difficult... the continued dysfunctional government and legal system, and the improving attractiveness of North American and elsewhere, could well be having an affect... and that's what we are seeing.

Maintenance: The change in the weather dictates a changed emphasis in our work. While less time has to be spent watering, more time can be devoted to undercover maintenance, and improving areas of the garden while ensuring that the garden continues to be managed.

Our Lives

WEATHER: Overcast days or partial days with some sun, light rains.

A friend / colleague who has his own website and newsletter, has asked that I expand on an assessment I wrote about CR as a "system". That one paragraph description relating a conversation, seemed to resonate with a number of people who have the background in CR and whose opinion I've come to respect. I'll see if I can write the article with it having some upside potential and being a complete downer...
