Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Construction Log
Updates about Hacienda El Dorado

Rio Oro: Work on the budget will begin this week with delivery of the finished product expected in one month.

Residencias Los Jardines
Property Management, Rentals, Re-Sales

Palm Tree Removal: work is to begin on Monday..

Additional Maintenance Staff: The person in charge of this made a significant error and I didn't catch it. We've had to made changes on two columns. The error should not have happened but it did.

Very Active Rental Market: We sealed a deal for the rental 102 with an option to purchase and we have given and received reciprocal verbal agreements on Units 121, 123, and 109. I believe leases would have been signed had I had the current version of the lease in Spanish. I didn't; I expect to have it Monday after which I expect the leases to be signed. A significant off shore company is bringing a number of staff to CR and is gobbling up many rentals in this area and in their budget range for their employees. The contracts are for 6 mo. with option to renew. The client requires full service and singular invoicing but we can accommodate him.

Our Lives

WEATHER: We still had less wind than in years past but the day time temperatures have increased this past week--probably 83-85 F / 25-27 C. Nights are still quite comfortable.

A SNIPPET OF WHAT DOING BUSINESS IN CR IS REALLY LIKE:

Note: Last week's snippets of what doing business here is really like and my conclusion drew an agreeable accord with a number of readers.

Friends Arrived and brought us some requested items --perfume for Lita, Stilton cheese for me, and Crest tooth paste for us-- Colgate rules the shelves here probably because P&G is a big employer. They will be here for two weeks.

Perico Escapes: some how the little bugger got out of his cage and managed do a little free ranging until a number of hours later, Lita realized he was gone. She followed his calls / responses to her and she went right to where he was. I was looking in the trees and all around--trying to find a green parrot perfectly camouflaged in green shrubs / trees. Lita put her hand on the bush next to where she was standing and the little guy jumped on her finger. I guess 10 meals a day along with play time was looking pretty good to him after 6 or so hours on is own.

Granada: We're leaving for Granada on Monday to return on Friday. Lita missed it and requested to return--guess the trip last year on our anniversary was a success so she wants to replicate it. This time, we're flying Nature Air's new service to Managua and will pick up a hotel arranged minibus for shuttling back and forth from the airport to Granada. The price of the flight is twice that of the executive bus --which we don't mind-- but we are leading a group of 6 others and they didn't like the seven hour bus ride vs. the 90 flight. For us, it will be another adventure. Afterwards, we'll compare the different modes of travel over a beer. The three couples we are helping have never been to Nicaragua so are a bit nervous to try but with our experience, felt comfortable. Hope all enjoy as we do.
