Brian Timmons Dear friends, When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own. Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have re-sales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information. Brian Timmons |

rentals & sales Paradisus Condos / Rohrmoser Each of the units consists of two bedrooms / two bathrooms, and a large living/dining/kitchen area. The floor plan of each of these units has eliminated the optional "den / office" divider. The result is a larger area offering more flexible furniture arrangements while still maintaining the option of including an office area. At 105m2 plus two parking spots each and storage locker, they offer a great opportunity for someone seeking views, security, central location, and first class, all round living... PRICE REDUCTION |

Our Lives
What Happened This WeekPortugal: From Lisbon to Coimbra (2 hrs north by train / third largest city). We took a number of day trips out of Lisbon to seaside resort areas and to tourist destinations. Nothing blew my mind but all gives one a sense of perspective. I continue to be amazed at the number of tourists from all over the world. Portugal is said to be the least expensive of the Western European countries is reasonable. A decent dinner meal $10-15 per person / taxis and Uber are not expensive /. Phone chips are not expensive and rail passes are all reasonable. Electric trains are great and the busses are as well. The country is really dry at this time. Agriculture that I have seen is mostly small scale and dies not appear very intense -pretty casual / hobby farms. There is some new construction cranes around but nothing significant. A lot of the older buildings are not being maintained and many do not look occupied above the ground floor. The elevator on out 4th floor VRBO apartment was nit working and had not been repaired for years even though it was advertised as working. 64 steps up and down in a dimly lit staircase hauling luggage up / down by 70-82 year olds with bad knees, backs, eyes, etc -we have a letter yet to write to VRBO re this. Coimbra: I see it was just listed by International Living as an unknown inexpensive retirement location and in another article Portugal was listed as the least expensive west a European country and another article talks the various beach towns between Lisbon and Porto. At one time in my life I might have been tempted but I find Costa Rica much nicer. I am not tempted at this time in my life... my hammock / climate / vegetation / beaches / etc beat out Portugal in my book. Porto: Tomorrow we are off to there for a week. Los Jardines: Rehab work continues on the front wall and we have one active inquiry for rental... but at a very low offer... |
