I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. Our Lives
Rainy Season... definitely here... rain most every day for an hour or so. Plants are happy... What Happened This WeekVacancies: One filled / one unexpected opening. I had a tenant for 2 1/2 mo. He called me Sat. afternoon... said he was leaving 4:30 A.M the next morning... wow!!!!!! Of course he looses all his deposits and there was no argument over that, but now I have to clean it up and go back to marketing it... We actually had two viewers this past week -first in months- one for August and one scouting for ????? Accounting: Doneste has a start-up meeting planned for Tuesday. Compliance with new Tax Law: So much confusion by all involved... it is very difficult to know what to do... Lawyer and accountant consultations planned. Garden Renewal: Laid 65 M2 of sod, planted some plants that should thrive in low light areas. The gardening company we had hired and which which we had been experiencing multiple problems, made a decision for us... too much unreliability, unauthorized work which had to be corrected where and when we could, variable employees -some good, some not so good... they quit... we will adjust... Rancho Lighting: We will bring in a reliable person to finish this off and will see how to finish off the 12V pool lighting project which has been stalled. I really do not like working with unreliable people even if their apparent price is less... The Drive to Manuel Antonio: That resulted in a friend closing on a deal Friday. Both parties are happy. 60 Hectares south of Limon -$160,000. My friend got more and more interested in this. He made an appointment to view. The seller did not show up. Called a couple days later saying he had gotten sick... not credible... but my friend did attempt to find the property and while he did not specifically locate it, did view the area and really likes it. He will follow up on it. Collections: We have a few owners who are falling behind on their dues. We'll have to force the issue by applying the provisions in the Shareholder Agreement. I expect a few fights. Never pleasant but we are not the Sally Ann, social club, or welfare agency... we are a business... |

COMMENTS Exchange rate: It remains fairly steady at 599 - 590. A year ago, this was not expected. Now it looks like it will be managed o.k. for the foreseeable future. |
