Brian Timmons Dear friends, When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own. Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have re-sales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information. Brian Timmons |

rentals & sales Paradisus Condos / Rohrmoser Each of the units consists of two bedrooms / two bathrooms, and a large living/dining/kitchen area. The floor plan of each of these units has eliminated the optional "den / office" divider. The result is a larger area offering more flexible furniture arrangements while still maintaining the option of including an office area. At 105m2 plus two parking spots each and storage locker, they offer a great opportunity for someone seeking views, security, central location, and first class, all round living... Our Lives
Weather: We are into the dry season... winds have started and will get progressively stronger... no rain, few clouds, beautiful but we need to keep the plants happy... Nature is not doing it for us... What Happened This Week:Condo Administration: Focused on developing the info necessary for the shareholder's meeting ...while keeping things going on site. Way too much running around sourcing things at the expense of my own work and hammock time... After years of disuse, we have rehabilitated the three bins I originally built for garden waste decomposition (composting). Now I am working with the new gardener teaching him how to do it. He has an idea and seems to buy into the idea but he needs a bit of tweaking. It will happen. We have been working towards improving the reliability of our internet. One of the recent issues has been TIGO. Supposedly they have been upgrading their equipment in our area. Most recently their modem was problematic in that it did not reboot after power outages or after their system went down. We had them replace the modem. When the hooked it up, they had totally different internal settings than before so all our internal stuff had to be reconfigured. Just total BS!!!!! Aside from that we have some pieces to replace... some of the equipment is original which in electronic world is now ancient... we can also improve on some other areas. OR do we want to replace the whole system with current technology? That is a big job... Patch the old / discard and re-do completely... Residential Property Management: It sucks... I spent 4 hrs fixing a door latch problem because the mfg used a machine screw which was 2 mm too short / replacing a halogen bulb in a light fixture which is so poorly designed you cannot get the bulb in or out // cleaning a clogged shower drain // now I have to replace a broken coffee carafe and find a "threshold" for a door way which has somehow disappeared... and that is in just one of the 5 vacant units I have... Vacancies: Still have all of them... one viewer / two cancellations... These are going to be tough to fill... and two are mine... Exchange Rate + misc.: currently 605 : 1. The government seems likely to defend the exchange rate allowing only a limited movement over the year to perhaps 650 at year end. It is still in the US dollar holders direction // inflation may rise from 3% to 7%... colon earning locals will have to adjust. New taxes go into effect and new reporting requirements also go into effect. New Year's Resolution: To stay out of trouble... short and sweet... difficult to do in CR... We'll see... |
News Items of the Week
COMMENTS The country was getting back to work this past week. While the official government holiday was suppose to end Jan. 7, some departments seem to have staggered returns and as is usually the case, government employees either extend, don't show / call in "sick" ...so Traffic was light / drivers still crazy / not much news of any consequence. |
