 Brian Timmons Dear friends, When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own. Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have re-sales and rental availability. Our Lives
Nostalgia and Friendships We are on a 3 week trip to Toronto... to reunite with friends, visit our former haunts, visit family, and remember what, when, who, and ???... Trip up: Rouge, Air Canada... I hated them before and have found new reasons to continue hating them... there are exactly 51 rows of seats on a 767-300... I know because that is where we sat... and this is the bouncy end of the plane, 5 rows from windows, right in front of the bulkhead to the galley which services the entire plane, next to two washrooms, the garbage storage area, the bathroom line up in which Mr. Stinky seemed to always hang out. They ran out of food before reaching us but it didn't make much difference, we were about to land... they didn't have a wheel chair for Lita on our arrival... normal for AC... Customs is now more or less "automated". Scan your declaration form and Passport... line up for a agent. I got admonished when I did not wait to be called and when I scanned my passport... I was suppose to scan another document... how was I suppose to know??? Well, the family met us... The AirBnB place was waiting for us, just like the pictures, perfect location for us... Friday was for getting organized... and finding out that my computer had died... this was unexpected... and now have to deal with it... new computer, maybe able to retrieve data... what a hassle... Then the week was devoted to visiting friends... some we hadn't seen for 10+ years... that all worked out... seeing how their lives have developed and their bodies have aged... of course ours haven't... I had "ordered" special foods which I knew each could and would like to prepare for because they know we do not get these... standing prime prime of beef, peaches and cream corn on the cob, delicious rib eye steaks, etc... but as always , it was the conversation, the friendships, etc. that was most memorable. Next week will be more of the same with people located closer to and in Toronto. I received two inquiries re. Rentals but haven't heard the results... which probably means that nothing happened... So far, "summer" in Toronto is a joke!!!!!!!! Helps me remember one reason we moved to CR... you cannot beat the weather in the Central Valley!!!!!!! |
