I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own. Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have re-sales and rental availability. Our Lives
Weather: Lots of rain, some thunder storms... A Different Market / A Different World: I was notified that a tenant in our Toronto house was, after three years, going to return to Europe. They recommended a tenant. I asked for the normal information to qualify the tenant, it was sent, I sent a contract, signed and returned, first and last month's rent wire transferred to my account... total time... about 1 hr. -two years, no vacancy, no rental agent involved, no advertising, no tire kickers... CR... only one call / viewing: Chinese client looking for 9 mo., the Tico who was interested in a friend's house who then walked away from it only to show up looking at 123 and then walked away from that to focus on 110 and has now walked away from that... a tire kicker, waste of timer... typical... it's a different culture... N. Am. don't have time to waste... they are too busy working to pay their mortgages and CC debits... A Tico farmer has only to watch the cattle graze... Car: RETIVE said I needed new front tires -only 6 mo. old but I had evidently hit a pot hole which caused a delamination in one and a diagonal cut in the tread of another -$788 to rebuild the front end which has now been rebuilt, piece by golden piece... Paul's is now fine... WOW!!!! what an episode of BS... I calculate that if I keep the car for 10 years, the fuel savings will pay for the current over market sunk cost I have in the bloody thing... not a good business decision on my part... Internet Upgrade: This has been a Los Jardines issue since December... we were presented with a fate-compli in effect saying the administration was going to switch providers, upgrade the service at a cost of $800... I asked a number of questions and was belittled... the proposed provider ran into delivery problems, the issue was delayed, the need was reduced and the cost was dropped to $400... I again asked some questions which hadn't been researched... we finally after all this time, upgraded to 100 megs with the current provider for an additional $60. The analysis was faulty, the solution was faulty but eventually we got what should work at a reasonable cost. |
News Items of the Week
Comments The President (Solis) is traveling Europe on the CR public dime meeting heads of state... only to end his term in 8 mo... Iberia has now adjusted flight times in Barcelona to coincide with flights from Rome and Milan so as to facilitate travel to / from Italy... No other cell phone carriers are interested in investing in CR... not surprising. Vulcan Poas continues to belch gas... not much in the way of ash... just sulfurous gases and steam... |
