Dear friends,
When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.
Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.
More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Updates about Hacienda El Dorado
Rio Oro: the one company most advanced with their analysis confirmed info. which we had told them to be the case. Nothing has happened with this company due to the holidays.

Sales
No sales be we have one client who continues to be interested in a purchase. He has some personal issues to deal with first and maybe afterwards he'll focus on Los Jardines.
Rentals: No one looking to lease...
INTERNET: We had an extended power outage last night. The system came back up when the power came on and has worked flawlessly since. I'm now prepared to say that this system is working better than it has since I can remember. One person needs to be credited with his analysis and persistence in accomplishing this --Ray Doucette-- a repeat tenant who did the investigative research necessary and wouldn't let BS bafflegab deter him. Yes, I ran interference and organized the resources but without Ray's contribution I don't believe we'd be in our current state.
WORK PROGRAMS: parking line painting will begin on Monday.
The parking lot is ready for paving... finding a person and material (concrete or asphalt) at the right price is now the challenge. we hope to get this back on line when the companies go back to work. Unfortunately, we are small potatoes for them so it will be hard to get their attention.
When the lining is re-done, we'll focus on washing down the exterior of the buildings and any touch up stucco work that needs being done.

Our Lives
WEATHER: Despite the calendar and the weatherman's assessment, the past week has seemed like the beginning of the rainy season --sunny, clear mornings with clouding around noon and a light shower mid-late afternoon followed by clearing.
MISC TIDBITS: The government's premier legislation --tax reform-- is in serious trouble. It was never very popular but with the revelation and now resignation of the two ministers of Taxation who have been outspoken proponents of it, that they have in fact understated and underpaid their personal and corporate taxes for years and that one's wife had a lucrative "consulting" contract with the Presidenta and... also that the largest 453 corporations pay little to no taxes... the credibility factor just isn't there. The government doesn't really have a back up plan... The government continues to run a substantial deficit but so far the colon - dollar exchange rate hasn't moved much... this defies economic reality (as I know it) and suggests manipulation (so what's new about this)... how long can CR kick the can down the road????
New Construction: a new commercial building is starting in Pozos... this now makes three on the same street in various stages of construction within 300 meters of each other. Kirebe continues to build out next to us... another couple months and they should be completely finished...
Semana Santa (Easter Week) is upon us --this is the biggest holiday period in CR... it's been dead all week... and will be substantially so for another week.
I was the subject of a poison pen letter and the recipient of a nice unexpected complement from a long time resident... neither had anything to do with the other... I guess there's always the yin and yang factor in life.
We're adjusting to life with fewer playmates... and beginning to focus more on ourselves...
