Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Construction Log
Updates about Hacienda El Dorado

Rio Oro: There's been some interest and movement on this project... when the rains let up, we'll see what might happen.

Despite all the rain, the river continues to behave just as we have seen in the past.

Residencias Los Jardines
Property Management, Rentals, Re-Sales

Rain: Despite all the rain over the past two weeks, all our pumps and drainage systems have worked as designed.

Internet: It's been unreliable -sometimes very, very slow, sometime up for a few minutes and then down again. We're working on it but as of now, don't yet have the nut cracked... this is a system people depend on and when it goes down or becomes unreliable, it is frustrating.

Market Activity: Quiet; one looker for rentals...

Sales: TWO lookers for purchasing -we'll see if anything happens.

Rentals: Unit 112 is still available.

Our Lives

WEATHER: We've had 13 days of continuous rains and have received more than the average rainfall in October -the normally rainiest month in the year- within those 13 days... and more rain is predicted to be on its way. It has not been associated with thunder or lightening -just a constant rain, hard at times, drizzly, misty at other times. In addition, the temperatures have been much cooler than normal. Many bridges and roads are affected around the country and of course, the landslides and flooding of low lying areas creates displacements for those living there -normal CR.

Cars: The purchase of the Pathfinder is progressing; the corporate books and title are now secured, Max is making the entries required, and the vendor is assigning a power of attorney present in CR. When that is done the books will have to be FEDEXed to Texas, signed, and returned. Funds will be transferred to Max's trust account and I'll take title. I'm hope all this can be done by this coming Friday... we'll see. Now the issue focuses on selling my Jeep although I'm a bit ambivalent about this since I don't want to use the new car to haul gas, dirty plants, muratic acid, bleach, oil, chairs, pumps, etc in the Pathfinder... I don't know what the solution will be but in the course of taking care of Los Jardines, I've beaten the Jeep with little compensation and no thanks...

"New" Traffic Law: The government has been working for several years to establish a comprehensive overhaul of the traffic laws. They proposed a number of very stiff -to the point of ludicrous- fines for infractions -virtually all these fines have been challenged in the constitutional court and thrown out as being too extreme. This was predicted, just like the camera fines -the government law makers don't learn and have no sense of what is "reasonable".
