Dear friends,
When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.
Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.
More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Updates about Hacienda El Dorado
Rio Oro: This time of year, the property looks its best -green, and the continuing grass / brush cutting enhances that look. Now if Europe and N. American can just get their social, political, financial, and economic acts together...

Property Management, Rentals, Re-Sales
Market Activity: Last Saturday morning we had Chris Howard's tour consisting of 10 people considering relocating -buying / renting- to CR. We've had no follow up from any of these people.
Overview: Jan is still finding the market very active; others are not.
Sales: one person scouting low end properties.
Rentals: Several inquiries but no showings.
Pending sale of 112: we're still working our way through the morass but... with luck, patience and perseverance, it will happen.
Mosquitoes: The shareholders conduced their vote on this resolution. It failed to garner enough support. We will not be fogging in the future and will continue to apply the larvacide which seems to be quote effective.

Our Lives
WEATHER: August had to be one of the driest rainy months we've experienced here. Usually just enough rain to keep us from having to irrigate; few hard rains; and generally soft rains every couple days. While this is only Sept. 3... that pattern seems to be continuing... at least in the Central Valley. Along the Pacific Coast, they had a horrific storm and the San Jose-Caldera Highway was again closed due to a massive landslide.
Stepping Aside: I've announced my intent to resign as President of Doneste S.A. The other officeholders have as well. We called a meeting for the election of a new Board of Directors for Doneste S.A. -the parent company of Residencias Los Jardianes. I'll continue on as property manager as per my contract. It's time for me to step aside; it's not a job I ever wanted but no one wanted it from day one -6 years ago... so I did the job. I'm tired of the administrative burden, very time consuming, tired of trying to explain / convince others of issues, and being the target of abuse and all types of nasties... I just was not looking forward to heading up the discussions and administrative issues leading to the General Shareholder's meeting normally held in December. I am concerned (I hope that is unfounded) that non-resident and other non-aligned shareholders' rights might be trampled by the few. Those non-aligned will have to pay close attention to what goes on and even though I'm stepping aside as President, I'm not ready to play dead.
