Thanksgiving at Los Jardines & Quebrada

» NOTES

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter —determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens —the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

In an effort to make the format more interesting and visually appealing and to field inquiries re. El Dorado, the news letter is now being distributed by Jan Kozak, Marketing Manager, Hacienda El Dorado. I will remain the author.

»MARKETING, WEBSITE & SALES

Sales: None this week

» CONSTRUCTION LOG

Permit Applications: Waiting--SETENA--D1--we wait and that will probably be the story until the end of January.

Construction: Still Waiting. The structural engineer is becoming a "weak link". We will be speaking with him further. He is not delivering on time. Excuses are wearing thin on all of us.

Water: I believe we have a response from AyA that they will do the study which will give us the technical information we need.

Municipal Roadway: The City has done nothing about shoring up the road. It will probably take an accident for them to move.

Quebrada Repaired: The wash out has been repaired using cement culvert pipe. The surface is being contoured so as not to cause rainwater spillage onto the neighbors (unlike our experience at Los Jardines with Kirebe).

Maya Tower: We are awaiting the redesign of the back wall from the structural engineer which will, for now, become a retaining wall.

» RESIDENCIAS LOS JARDINES

Website Upgrade / Marketing: Photos of Residencias Los Jardines, the Santa Ana area and some of the houses are available on line at:

Garden:  The gardeners are getting the hang on "multi tasking". They are now doing a pretty good job or irrigating while they are doing other things.  It's not yet perfect but they are showing an understanding.

Amnet Internet Service: On Tuesday, they cut us off because one number on their contract didn't match with something.  What a stupid hassle but since then, it's been fine. Different inmates; different asylum but the product is better.

New Property Tax Law:  We will be reviewing the implication of this on Tuesday.

Shareholders Meeting: The info. was sent out to all shareholders.

Texas Hold'em: Two games this past week. Obviously it is a lot of fun to the players and the winner seems to rotate so there continues to be hope at the beginning of each game and often the final result is not foretold throughout the game.

» OUR LIVES

Weather: Dry with some overcast; light breezes.

Thanksgiving:  Sunday, Nov. 30, we'll be having a party for about 30 people.  Two turkeys + and others are bringing various things to complement.  The setting will be a far cry from the traditional settings in North America---we'll be around the large pool and I'm sure there will be many laughs and tall stories told and of course the stories will become more embelished as the booze kick in.

Eating and Dinner parties:  far too many with far too much delicious food -- chicken catchatorie, spaghettie with red sauce, spaghetti with cream sauce and mixed seafood,  fresh ocean caught fish,  Dalminico steaks, etc.

Brian, Lita, Hugo, irreverent Vicka, the pigeon toed parrot, and the newbies — Chico and Chica.
