NOTE: WHEN I STARTED RESIDENCIAS LOS JARDINES, I STARTED WRITING A WEEKLY NEWS LETTER—DEETERMINED TO TELL ALL THE GOOD, BAD, AND THE UGLY. I KNEW SOME READERS WERE INTERESTED IN THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS. OTHERS WERE INTERESTED IN HAVING INSIGHT TO THE LIFESTYLE OF TWO PEOPLE WHO HAD DECIDED TO LIVE OUTSIDE THE BOX. FOR OTHERS, THE ADVENTURES OF LITA, THE PARROT AND THE CAT TOOK ON AN ENTERTAINMENT SAGA ALL ITS OWN.

MORE AND MORE, THE CONTENT WILL BE DOMINATED BY EVENTS OF OUR NEW PROJECT, “EL DORADO” FOR SHORT. WHILE THE FUTURE IS ALWAYS UNCERTAIN, I AGAIN AIM TO TELL IT LIKE IT HAPPENS—THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY, AND THAT IS WHAT FOLLOWS:

The STORY: Information begins to come together and available

Pictures: I need an underwater camera!

Architect: The lots have not yet been survey according to the new site plan—too much rain. We have most of the information we require. When the Mayan Tower gets structured (next week) we can return to the floor plans and then to the exterior rendering.

Structural Engineer: we should have the solution for the Mayan Tower by the end of this next week at which point we can finalize the floor plans.

Well Application: we continue to wait

Quebrada: we haven’t been able to move one dump truck load due to rain.

Fence: nothing got done due to the rain.

Web site: Information is beginning to be uploaded to this site. It is not in it’s final form and is not as user friendly as it is expected to be but it is useful and informative. All the house renderings and floor plans and site plan are viewable. We are able to give price quotes on the house options but not yet on the optional upgrades. Finishes are not yet viewable on line and the full description of the project is not yet on line but is likely to be this next week. There is a power point presentation due to be uploaded this week. It’s a big file -- 50 megs ; it summarizes the website content and the development itself in point form. Marketing: We signed production contracts for billboards, brochures, handouts, folders, business cards, stationary, various magazine and newspaper ads, etc. Those are now in production. We are still working with a rendering company to finish three views of the social and recreational areas—two of swimming pool/social areas and one of the stream. One of the three is fine; two need work.

Legal counsel: The agreement of Purchase and Sale is nearly finished. He will begin setting up the 75 corporations. Since we can’t use numbered companies (the whole of N. Am. and probably the rest of the world uses numbered companies but not in CR) we will be using some unique designation for each of the 75. It’s often times not easy to do things here nor doe the procedures necessarily make much sense but when in Rome...

Black Water Management: Paul has been fighting this ALL week. The rain certainly complicated things and a tank design unfamiliar to the trades combined to make this a horrible event. On Tuesday he held on to the tank too long and went in with it. A hose down and a double scotch later only his bruised ego and a good laugh later, all was fine. On Wednesday one house affected started to flood; we searched around in the rain and jerry rigged a pumping system which Paul had to baby sit all night. We are in the process of covering the tank and later will have to repair the asphalt.

OUR LIVES

Weather: of the last week, it’s rained 85% of the time. We saw the sun for not more than 5 min. each time twice the whole week. Last year for the same week I wrote: “gorgeous mornings with some afternoon rains.” Not so, this week. ICE assures us now there is plenty of water for power generation so we should not have the rotating power outages we had last year (right now, this is small consolation for the past week’s weather).

I think we are nearing the end (not completely there yet) of my contribution to the marketing material. I’m now really dependent on those more talented than myself to make this information available in useable form; My role now is to write the checks. I’m still proofing and checking to see that the info. is accurate but I do feel confident that the marketing manager has worked long and hard enough with the material and changing it into marketing format that he’s now knowledgeable.

Note: I’m still in the process of switching from Yahoo mail to Gmail. (Habit is hard to brake.) For reasons unknown, names kept dropping off my Yahoo mailing list. I’ve received too many inquiries and statements from people saying they were no longer receiving my posts and didn’t understand why. Well, I didn’t know why either so……I had hoped to have all my Yahoo e-mail automatically forwarded to my G-mail account but Yahoo won’t allow this so I’ll have to monitor both and gradually switch everyone over.. We’ll see if G-mail can do a better job.

The picture with the yellow dots represents trees.  One swimming pool will likely be eliminated in favor of houses (the large one near the 2nd. pool (bottom left hand corner)  This area will likely become a condominium within a condominium having it's own direct street access.
