When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly newsletter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Our Lives

Weather: We seem to be going through our "mini summer"; rains have backed off...

What Happened This Week:

Scotia bank website is closed down until Tuesday (?) to integrate CITI Bank systems with Scotiabank systems so we cannot do any on-line banking.

Marketing:

Santa Fe: No calls

Distritcuatro: Lots of requests for information / two viewings. One follow on discussions by a young couple who don't know how to solve the problems of the lot. One would be purchaser who said he had the money but when it really came to it, he had to sell some land to make a deposit. One half-hearted offer... and a second viewing from a first time would be purchaser scheduled for next week. The bottom line continues to be churning, churning and no progress.

Rentals: Two units at Los Jardines were rented. Paradisus is in the process of being rented by mainland Chinese clients. I have had to modify the contract several times to make it easier and more understandable to the parent company. Nothing is signed and no money has changed hands but I am proceeding on the basis of "good faith"... Hope I am not disappointed because I am turning down other opportunities.

In the process, I managed to piss off an agent / friend who felt I should split with him the commission of the agent who brought the client. I disputed this because he in no way meets the criteria... he sent me a name of someone who contacted him on line / he doesn't meet the client / he didn't set up any appointment / he didn't follow up with the client / and the person shows up a week + later with another agent with whom I have worked with for years and who has given me lots of clients. It is that agent who gets all the commission... giving me a name of someone who contacts him doesn't cut it... it is unfortunate but I am very clear and if I mentioned it to the other agent, he would certainly challenge the claim and with good reason. and since I do not take a commission, he would have to make his claim to the other agent... Unfortunately my friend is wrong in his claim... and wrong in his anger towards me. This isn't the first time but it might be the last time...

The general strike on Monday didn't seem to accomplish much.

In general, efforts by the government to cut back the most flagrant abuses of wages / pensions / benefits are being challenged. It is too early to tell what the outcome will be.
