Residencias Los Jardines - Life & Times

ISSUE #331: Nov. 29-Dec. 4, 2010

» NOTES

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter —determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens —the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

In an effort to make the format more interesting and visually appealing and to field inquiries re. El Dorado, the news letter is now being distributed by Jan Kozak, Marketing Manager, Hacienda El Dorado. I will remain the author.

» CONSTRUCTION LOG

Rio Oro: We are still awaiting two more proposals for building architectural design, electro-mechanical, and structural before entering into discussions with any of the three. We are focusing on the two buildings which make up phase 1--Ponce and Cortez Split. I've met with each of the two to help them understand the request and the drawings.  One on one consultation can save them a number of hours and help ensure they understand and that their offer is based on that correct understanding.  I don't like surprises; surprises benefit no one.

Market Comment: So far, there has been no follow up with any of the clients from last week.  We had one client this week who will buy someplace in the Central Valley. We were late on his list;  he's waiting to see if another offer he has out will be accepted.

Annual Shareholders Meeting:  Discussion amongst a few continues.  I continue to supply information where information is lacking.

» OUR LIVES

WEATHER: We endured some hard, steady rain for several days causing problems in CR and lots of overcast but by week's end, the low pressure has moved to Panama and partly sunny skies and breeze have returned. This is likely to be the weather for the next 5 months.

COMPUTER:  Not yet replaced but some of the systemic failures I had last week have gone away...thus I'm able to write in both lower and upper case.

MURDER:  About 8 years ago, my nephew-in-law who lived with Lita's family, was murdered by several 12 gauge shotgun blasts, along with another person in their own home at 7am one morning.
They lived about 6 blocks from us in downtown Toronto. There had been no argument or culminating incident at any time.   The police attended the scene and found the neighbor quietly sitting at his dinning room table with another loaded shotgun. A check of his home and van revealed numerous pipe bombs, bomb making literature, and other related material.  He was found to be crazy.  Because voices in his head told him to kill his neighbors   he was not criminally responsible for his actions.  He spent a couple years in the nut house and yesterday I find out for some years and he has been out and living a normal life.  Meanwhile, the civil suite is going nowhere--the system requires money the family doesn't have.  Gerry is still dead; Gerry's wife struggles with raising two children without the main breadwinner; the guilty person is alive and living normally.  Actually, I find little difference between the Canadian and CR justice systems.  "Justice" systems neither are;  legal systems they are.
